F.A.Q.'s
Q: Why don't some parts of this website work right?
A: Several of the top menu features require the Flash Player 7 plug-in. You can download this at www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/alternates
Q: Where did you get that great map?
A: The navigational map was created in 1899 by Landis & Hughes, a firm in New York City. The copy used on this site was downloaded from the Library of Congress' American Memory website at www.memory.loc.gov
Q: What's in the database?
A: The Mattatuck Museum has a collection of nearly 20,000 photographs taken in Waterbury between 1845 and 2005. We are in the process of adding the entire photograph collection to the database; it is anticipated that this process will take several years. In addition, the Museum has conducted hundreds of interviews with Waterbury residents through a number of projects, including the Neighborhood History Project, the African American History Project, the 20th Century Enterprise Project and the Brass Workers History Project. The transcripts of these interviews are also being added to the database.
Q: How do I find out more?
A: You can contact the Mattatuck Museum viaemail, or by phone, (203) 753-0381, x10.
